Lengthy eyelashes have always been a symbol of femininity for centuries. Even up to the present, women of different cultures have always desired for longer eyelashes. From traditional eyelash extensions, kohl and trimming to contemporary tools, such as false lashes, eyelash curlers, mascara guards, eyelash tints and extensions, eyelash transplants to mascaras, it is simply evident how women try to get through various means just to make their lashes appear longer.

How to Grow Longer Eyelashes at Home

Before discussing the top three home remedies to grow eyelashes, it is important that an applicator stick is created first. All ladies need is a used mascara applicator that should be cleaned first with soapy water comprising of baby shampoo. As much as possible, do not use hand soap in cleaning a mascara applicator as its ingredients may easily damage the applicator’s bristles.

Lastly, allow the mascara to dry. This applicator would then be the primary tool used in applying the various home remedies.

Home Remedies to Grow Eyelashes

Substances like Vaseline and almond oil are believed to enhance the length of one’s lashes, but natural oils like olive oil and castor oil for eyelashes growth are known to be effective as well.

1.     Olive Oil

Does olive oil make your eyelashes grow? A natural substance produced by olives, olive oils act as skin and hair cleansers and moisturizers, and they are claimed to make brittle, dry lashes stronger and thicker.

While applying olive oil does not necessarily indicate that one’s lashes would become lengthier than what one’s genes could offer, such natural oil merely guarantees that it can provide the needed nutrients and moisture that are lacking in a brittle eyelash hair.

How to Apply Olive Oil for Eyelashes

Use the applicator stick, and coat this with olive oil. Apply to the eyelashes before going to bed. Upon waking up, use warm water to rinse the eyelashes and the entire face.

2. Castor Oil

The raves of using castor oil for eyelash growth has been increasing in many online forums and review sites for some time now, and one could only take this claim with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, it would not hurt to try castor oil if it produces similar or even better effects than olive oil.

Coming from the castor bean’s extracted seeds, the castor oil helps hair follicles by ensuring that the cuticle coating is flattened and the hair shaft is covered. This allows moisture to be completely locked in, resulting in softer follicles as well as stronger and shinier eyelashes.

Tips on Applying Olive Oil for Eyelashes

  • Purchase castor oils only in health shops and not in groceries as the latter may only sell castor oils meant for industrial application. Look for cold-processes or cold-pressed on the bottle’s label as this indicates that you are purchasing a natural product.

  •  Use an eye makeup remover prior to applying castor oil, and carefully apply this to the lashes.

3. Other Treatments

Almost always present in every home, petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, also promises longer eyelashes in just about two to three weeks’ time. Unlike castor oil and olive oil though, petroleum jelly must be applied to the lash twice a day, before sleeping and after waking up in the morning.

In case the natural oils and petroleum jelly show no improvement at all to one’s short lashes, girls could then try immersing a cotton ball in a cup of green tea. One could then put it on the lashes, and hope that the tea would do its wonders of growing and cleaning the hair follicles.

Lastly, a lemon peel could be added to a container of olive oil, and leave it there for 5 days. This is believed to strengthen the effects of olive oil for eyelashes’ growth.

In general, these natural means of lengthening one’s lashes could only be effective if a person is determined enough to make them a routine beauty regimen for approximately 2 to 3 months.

More Tips:

  • Ensure that the natural substances stay on the lashes all throughout the night. Once awake, use a facial wash when rinsing in the morning. Properly rinse before farding eye makeup as the remaining oil may make this ooze if not completely removed.

  • Just like how one applies mascara, movement should start from the interior to the exterior eyelash, starting from the hair root to the tip. Cotton may be used in wiping any excessive substance.

  • Making sure that the entire face, most especially the eyelashes, is thoroughly cleaned as this prevents pores from getting clogged; hence, restricting eyelash hair growth.

Xtreme Lashes: How Do They Rate, What’s the Cost, and Do They Work?

Let's Get Inside Xtreme Lashes...Where to Start...

The eyes are women’s beauty asset.  Thus, they will do everything just to get the captivating and attractive pair of eyes to attract the attention of the opposite sex and spread envy among the other women. One of the ways that they see will give them the entrancing pair of eyes is to have captivating, long and thick lashes, and the best way they can get such lashes is by using semi-permanent eyelash extensions.

Xtreme Lashes before and after shots.

There are many brands available on the market when it comes to eyelash extensions. However, the most preferred product is the Extreme Lashes, which is known to be an innovative eyelash extension as it is composed of single strand synthetic lashes that are applied strand by strand directly to the natural lashes using a medical grade adhesive. Such eyelash extensions are attached to the natural lashes to create natural-looking long and thick eyelashes.  Since the procedure requires care and experienced hands, only the certified eyelash extension stylists trained by the company’s eyelash extension experts are authorized to perform the procedure. Furthermore, these products are only available from the clinics of the licensed health and beauty professionals in order that women can get the extensions from professionals who have been trained to complete the procedure.

What does Xtreme Lashes cost?

Considering that the method of attaching Xtreme Lashes is done by accredited health and beauty experts and not to mention the number of hours spent in attaching the fake lashes, using Xtreme lashes is quite pricey. In addition, it costs more because the procedure has to be done again after two-three weeks to replace those false lashes that fall off along with the natural lashes. Other than that, users need to look for an accredited eyelash extension stylist, in case there is none in their area; thus, making the product more expensive.

Usually, it will cost around $250 to $600 for the initial application of Xtreme Lashes depending on the number of lashes that are attached to the natural lashes, the skill level of the professional stylist, and the country where the procedure is performed.  Other than that, since the application of Xtreme Lashes is a form of art just like hair styling and cutting, it will cost a bit more money if you have your lashes styled by the best.

Moreover, since the synthetic lashes are attached to the natural lashes, these extensions are also damaged and eventually fall off along with the natural lashes; you need to replace those that fall off and retouch to preserve the beauty of the eyelashes.  An ordinary Xtreme Lashes touch up application necessitates you to shell out $75 to $150 every month.  With all these expenses of maintaining the eyelash extensions, it isn’t surprising that the cost of Xtreme Lashes application is akin to having your hair highlighted.

Xtreme Lashes Reviews: What Are People Saying?

Although Xtreme Lashes is a bit costly, still the product has remained to be popular and has continually gathered a large number of satisfied followers.  However, despite the positive results that these eyelash extensions provide, there are negative factors attached to them, as well.

A short video review, and pros and cons

Advantages of Xtreme Lashes

• The product is safe to use.

Even though, it is not FDA approved since these extensions are only applied to the lashes and do not touch the skin, still they are safe to use and cause no damage to the natural lashes. The medical grade adhesives that are used to attach the fake lashes to the natural lashes have ingredients that are used by plastic surgeons around the USA for suture-less wound closure. Aside from that, only the certified stylists are authorized to perform the application of the false lashes, ensuring the safety and pain-free application process.

• No need to apply special products to the lashes.

There are no special products to be applied to the Xtreme Lashes.  However, if you have oily skin, or you cannot maintain the lashes carefully, you can use Xtreme Protective Coating, which serves as a sealer on the adhesive for a stronger bond to the natural lashes.

• Lengthens and darkens the natural eyelashes.

Since Xtreme Lashes are individually curved and attached to the natural eyelashes, the shape and appearance of the natural lashes are replicated, and the length and color of the lashes are extended and darkened. Unlike the eyelash growth serum, you can instantly have longer and thicker lashes with Xtreme Lashes.

• Women can save time in applying makeup.

On top of the advantages that these eyelash extensions bring the users, it is the time that women can save in applying makeup that counts the most.  Since, these state-of-the-art eyelash extensions create longer and darker eyelashes, applying mascara is not any more needed.  Furthermore, because the false lashes have bigger base creating darker lines around the eyes, using eyeliner is no longer necessary, as well.  In general, Xtreme Lashes give you a look of having put substantial effort into the eye makeup when, in truth, you did not put any at all.

On the other hand, since you did not apply any eye makeup, there is no need for you spend time removing the mascara and traces of eyeliner at the end of the day.

And the Disadvantages

• The eyelash extension process is expensive.

The main downside of Xtreme Lashes is its cost.  As mentioned earlier, the initial application will cost you around $200-$600. Other than that, you also need to spend $75-$150 for the monthly retouch.

• The treatment is not available anywhere.

Since the process of eyelash extension requires the hands of the experts and accredited professional stylists, you need to look for one in another state, in case there is no one near your place.

• The adhesive that is used in attaching Xtreme Lashes to the natural lashes cause discomfort during eyelash extension.

The glue that is used in bonding the eyelash extensions to the natural lashes exudes strong and irritating fumes, causing the user to feel uncomfortable during the application process.

• Causes damage to the natural lashes.

There are reports that there are some women who suffered from eyelash damage after undergoing the eyelash extension using Xtreme Lashes.

In a nutshell...

Almost all of us love to have attractive, long and dark eyelashes, and the only way they can get such lashes instantly is through the use of semi-permanent eyelash extensions.  While Xtreme Lashes sounds promising, you should not forget to consider the disadvantages that are attached to them before jumping into the conclusion of undergoing the procedure. If you believe you can brave through the infuriating fumes emitted by the adhesive of Xtreme Lashes, then go for it. However, if you want to have the luscious, long and dark eyelashes without undergoing any discomfort, Xtreme Lashes is not for you.

How Much Are Eyelash Extensions?

How much are eyelash extensions? Can you afford their upfront and maintenance cost?  For the sake of  those long and thick eyelashes, some people (especially the celebrities) seem to think so.  Let’s take a deeper look at how much (or how little depending on the size of your wallet) these eyelash extensions will eat at your budget every year.

how much are eyelash extensions?

How much are eyelash extensions? Are they worth the cost?

But first let me tell you something about them.  Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent strands  (just a little heavier than your natural lashes).  They are available in silk, synthetic mink, genuine Siberian mink and in different colors.  They can be applied by Licensed Estheticians or doctors.  Eyelash Extensions last around 2-3 weeks or sometimes with your natural lashes’ growth cycle.  Each strand is attached or glued into the individual natural lashes’ strand.  They also come in different lenghts so you have the option to have extraordinarily long eyelashes or lash strands that are somewhat closer to your natural ones.  Because of the glue or adhesive used on the eyelash extensions, mascara application is not recommended.  It may actually cause the adhesive to break down leaving you a disastrous looking lashes.  Eyelash extensions’ application mostly takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on how many strands you want attached in each eye.

How much are eyelash extensions’ initial applications?

If you happen to be in United Kingdom, the initial application cost lies from 100 to 150 pounds and the maintenance costs between 50 and 60 pounds per month.  In the US, eyelash extensions initial filling costs approximately $250 to $500 and the maintenance is priced between $75 and $120.

Now, let’s do the math.  If you’re in UK, you’ll spend at most 870 pounds annualy.  In the US however, you can consume as much as $1940 per year. These are all based on the fact that you only need a monthly upkeep (and that you’ve decided to live with these extensions for a year).  If you consider yourself a high-maintenance girl, then you won’t really be affected by these figures.  But if you’re like me, a budget-conscious housewife who manages to pamper myself only once a year, these costs are rather expensive.  These are more expensive compared to using a mascara or an eyelash growth enhancing mascara.  Using an eyelash growth serum is another thing.  Let’s say you happen to use Li Lash (see price on Ebay or Amazon), you get to spend around $80 to $120 on a tube without really knowing if it’s going to work or not.  Nevertheless, eyelash extensions is still more pricey than using the growth serum.

How much are eyelash extensions’ removal procedures?

Wait, what?  Why would I need a removal procedure?  Shouldn’t I just wait for all of them to fall out until my lashes are all new and natural once again?  According to my research, you might not be able to preserve your natural lashes if you’re going to remove the eyelash extensions on your own because of the glue.  You might actually end up with bald eyelids.  And I know you don’t want that.   So how much are eyelash extensions’ removal procedures? They mostly cost around $75 per eye.  Now, go ahead and add that up to your estimated “eyelash extensions project” cost.  Do you have a clearer idea of how much these eyelash extensions will cost you now?

I really hope my article has answered your “how much are eyelash extensions” question.

Eyelash Extensions Reviews: What Do They Have to Say?

I’ve been contemplating over whether I should or shouldn’t try eyelash extensions  for 4 days now so I made use of the eyelash extensions reviews on the web to help me come to a decision.  I have a rather unimpressive eyelashes (they are nonexistent as far as I’m concerned) that’s why I’m drawn to products that could enhance my eyelashes.  But I’m also a “chicken” when it comes to trying out new products/cosmetics (I’ve only used mascara to flatter them so far) that’s why you’ll always find me scouring over reviews and evidence photos like these eyelash extensions photos and LiLash before and after pictures.

Anyway, I have a wedding to attend to next week and I want to do myself a favor by trying to feel like a celebrity (as if I can afford these eyelash extensions filling and maintenance cost).  There are several truthful eyelash extensions reviews from personal bloggers like me (unfortunately , I can’t use their photos) and they really helped me a lot in considering what I should (or should not) do with my lashes.

Here are what these eyelash extensions reviews have to say.

Eyelash Extensions Reviews: Advantages

  • You’ll have instantly longer and thicker lashes (no need to wait for 4 to 6 weeks if you use an eyelash growth serum like the Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum)
  • The fact that you’re having fake strands among the natural lash strands is not noticeable (unless you make it known to everyone you encounter).
  • Make up is applied in a shorter time because you won’t have to curl your eyelashes and then put on several coats of mascara (and when they get smudged, you repeat the process).
  • Better yet, you can get away without having to put any make up on.  Your eyes will steal the show anyway.

Eyelash Extensions Reviews: Disadvantages

  • The filling process of the eyelash extensions cost around $250 to $500 per eye while its touch ups every 4 weeks approximately cost $75 per eye. (Now let’s compare it to Li Lash here on Ebay or Amazon, or Rimmel in Ebay or Amazon, shall we?)
  • A special kind of glue is used to attach those extensions on your natural lashes and removing its dried residual around your eyes is PAINFUL.
  • You can’t rub your eyes, not even unconsciously for a very obvious reason (something all eyelash extensions reviews all agree on).
  • You can’t use oil-based products near them (one eyelash extensions reviewer even said that since she got them even washing her face became a lot of work because she needed to make sure that no trace of facial wash gets into her eyes.
  • The only remover you’re allowed to use for your eye make up is something like the Maybelline Expert Eyes (so high maintenance?)
  • You can’t use mascara on your eyelash extensions-filled lashes (not that you really need mascara with eyelash extensions on your eyes)

All right, I can go on and on with the eyelash extensions reviews’ rants of how inconvenient they are when it comes to maintenance and your pocket.  However what these eyelash extensions reviews are telling me is that if I want to feel like a celebrity for an instant, I should go ahead and try these eyelash extensions. But if I don’t want to be troubled by things like initial filling cost, maintenance cost and don’ts, then I should just go ahead and be happy with what I have or find other ways to grow my lashes longer and thicker.  These eyelash extensions reviews has surely got me deciding to just stick with my beloved and dependable mascara.

See These Eyelash Extensions Before and After Pictures

One of the things that keep me busy lately besides researching about  eyelashes enhancers and ways to grow them is looking at eyelash extensions before and after pictures not to mention oogling at the images of celebrities who also don eyelash extensions.  Let’s say, I’m clicking for proof over the premise that eventhough the strands are synthetic, they don’t look “fake” or unnatural at all.  It’s amazing how true and natural these eyelash extensions really look.  And how unfortunate that I may not be able to afford it for now. (See my last post about eyelash extensions cost to know more about it)

Eyelash extensions can either be put on by a doctor or Licensed Beauty Professional and the cost vary but the results are generally awesome.  As usual, I crept and hunted down eyelash extensions before and after pictures on the web and I found so many of them.   I was, in fact, having a hard time choosing which of them I’ll include in my article so you’ll also be amazed as well.

But I digress.  If you remember my Li Lash before and after pictures, you’ll be more impressed with the kind of change that eyelash extensions can do to your lashes. And  If you want to compare costs, look at the price of Li Lash on Ebay or Amazon.

The good thing about eyelash extensions is that after the procedure, you’re 100% sure you’re eyelashes are now thicker and longer (just a bit of waste when a lash or two fall though).  With Li Lash and other eyelashes growth serums, you can’t be 100% sure it’s going to work on the expected period.  I mean you’ll be left to wonder how long it would take for your lashes to grow their desired length and thickness.

Here are the eyelash extensions before and after images that I gathered on the web.

The Huge Eyelash Extensions Effect

Do you see the drama these eyelash extensions before and after photos bring to your eyelashes?  Am I right in saying that you can’t very well identify where the natural lashes end and where the synthetic ones begin?

I’m sorry the last picture has a crappy quality but I just want you to know that those eyes are Kim Kardashian’s.  I’m not a fan of Kim but I’m a huge admirer of her eyes and eyelashes (of her whole face actually, she’s beautiful).  I think she doesn’t really need a lot of those lashes though, her natural ones are already long and thick.  I guess, she wants more DRAMA (pun intended) in her pictures, eh?

Have you experienced dramatic changes in your eyelashes with eyelash extensions?  Please do share your own eyelash extensions before and after pictures too.

Eyelash Extensions Cost: Can or Can’t You Afford It?

The search for the best way I can get my lashes to be longer and thicker continues with eyelash extensions –the question, however, is whether or not I can afford the eyelash extensions cost.

eyelash extensions cost for celebrities
Beyonce and Kim Kardashian can afford the eyelash extensions cost

If I’m a celebrity with a steady flow of projects and sponsors like Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, I won’t even think twice about these eyelash extensions and the corresponding cost.  But I’m a commoner with an income I have to budget down to the last cent each month, will succumbing to the desire of possessing amazingly long and thick lashes by having those extensions worth it?  Will eyelash extensions cost be reasonable enough for a blogger (who wants to flutter my eyelashes flirtatiously more often than necessary) like me?  Join me as I try to find out.

How much do eyelash extensions cost?

First of all,  putting on eyelash extensions is a semi-permanent process that involve using an adhesive to make individual synthetic eyelash strand stick to each of your natural lashes.  The differences between them and falsies are that falsies come in strips and they are attached on the eyelids which only last for a day.  Eyelash extensions last as long as the full cycle of your natural lashes which is around 60 to 90 days (although there are some who experience keeping the extensions for as long as 2 months).  In connection to the eyelash growth cycles, there is a recommended “eyelash fills” every to 2 to 4 weeks to fill in those newly grown eyelashes.

Eyelash extensions cost differ from one professional to another but they average between $200 and $500 for the initial filling and between $75 and $120 for the maintenance.

Eyelash Extensions Cost vs Eyelash Growth Serums Cost

There are eyelash growth serums that can help your eyelashes grow naturally and (maybe) permanently.  Some well-known eyelash enhancers are Latisse, Rimmel Lash Accelerator, Li Lash and Revitalash.  If you visit Li Lash on Ebay and Amazon or  Rimmel on Ebay or Amazon, you’ll find out that the average price of these products range from $50 to $140.

The eyelash growth serums cost is less than the eyelash extensions cost but you have to risk the fact that the eyelash growth serums may cause some irrations or worse, may not work at all.

Eyelash Extensions Cost vs Eyelash Growth Enhancing Mascaras

Eyelash growth enhancing mascaras like Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara, Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara and Cargo Eyelash Enhancing Mascara cost around $8 to $36 (Cargo being the most expensive).  They boast of eyelash growth as well as the function of a regular mascara.

The cost of these mascaras are cheaper than the eyelash extensions cost.  I might want to try this personally.  In case these mascaras don’t work, at least I still can use it like my favorite mascara.

I would like to include eyelash implants here too but I’m not really into them and is way too expensive for a common blogger like me.  Anyway, I realized that I cannot afford the eyelash extensions cost for now.  I would like to consider getting one though (they said the process of putting them on is not traumatic, it’s almost relaxing actually) when I have enough money to spend.  But how about you?  Can you afford the cost of this procedure?  Or are you willing to overlook the eyelash extensions cost and give this process a try?

Eyelash Lengthening Products: The Basic Things You Should Know

Wanting to have lengthy and thick eyelashes is a trend that’s not ever going to go out of style that’s why there are a lot of eyelash lengthening products available out there. I mean Egyptian women from centuries ago did everything to make their their eyelashes appear thick and long so their eyes stand out. And I’m sure it wasn’t just the Egyptians then, almost all women all over the world wanted (and still want) to possess the tantalizing set of long and thick lashed eyes. Some of us though (myself included), haven’t heard of eyelash lengthening products because we’re too happy with our regular mascara tubes. We didn’t know that there’s a chance to get our eyelashes to grow thicker and longer like we were born with the genes to have them.

So I’m making myself and the rest of the women who don’t know anything about eyelash lengthening products yet a favor. Please read on.

Latisse-an eyelash growth serum and Revlon-an eyelash growth enhancer mascara

What are the two types of the current eyelash lengthening products?

There are two types of eyelash growth products available in the market today: eyelash lengthening serums and eyelash growth enhancing mascaras. Wait, what? Did you just read eyelash growth enhancing mascara? Yes, you actually read right. Gone are the days when mascaras are just for making your eyes seemingly darker, thicker and longer. There are mascaras now that can aid in the growth of your lashes. They are formulated differently than the eyelash growth serums, of course. But many users can attest that they do work.

What are the common or popular brands of eyelash lengthening products?

I’m going to give you the popular lengthening serum brands first. There a several of them but the ones I’ve read so much about are Latisse, Li Lash Eyelash Conditioner, RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner, Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum, Rapid Lash, Smart Lash, Marini Lash and L’oreal Lash Boosting Serum. What’s common about them is that they use prostaglandin analog element for the growth of the eyelashes and also some vitamins and minerals to help condition your them.
Other eyelash lengthening products are the eyelash growth enhancing mascaras that come in brands like Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara, Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara and Cargo Eyelash Growth Enhancing Mascara. They work as mascaras and eyelash lengthening products in one because they are fused with ingredients that complements the natural growth of your lashes and the elements in your good, ‘ol plain mascara. The good thing about them is that you can directly apply them to your lashes unlike the eyelash growth serums which must only be applied on your upper lids if you don’t want the area around your eyes to get irritated.

How much do these eyelash lengthening products cost?

If you guessed that the eyelash growth serums cost higher than the eyelash growth enhancer mascaras, then you guessed right. If you take a look at these prices here: Li Lash on Ebay and Amazon, Rimmel Lash on Ebay and Amazon, Rapid Lash on Ebay and Amazon, you’ll find out that the average cost of these products are between $60 and $140. The eyelash growth emhancing mascaras however, cost between $8 and $36. They’re much more affordable.

How long do these eyelash lengthening products take effect?

Well, the effectiveness period depends on a few factors: how you follow instructions when you apply them, how “regularly” you use them and how your skin respond to these eyelash lengthening products. If you follow their application instructions religiously, apply them everyday as directed and if you don’t have any allergic reactions (if you have then you’d better stop using them), you’ll most likely see the results after 4 to 6 weeks. If it’s been over that and your eyelashes stubbornly remain at the same length and thickness, then it means that the particular eyelash lengthening product’s brand you’re using is not for you.

Personally, I’d be a bit hesitant in trying eyelash lengthening products unless it’s approved by my doctor (Latisse is FDA approved so most doctors might prescribe it) but I may get my hands on any eyelash growth enhancing mascara. I love mascaras so much and the idea that one may actually help my so short and so thin lashes grow long and thick is just awesome. How about you? Now that you’ve known about these eyelash lengthening products, are you ready to try one on your lashes?

Eyelash Implants: Would You Prefer This Over Any Eyelash Enhancers?

eyelash implants

Would you say "OK" to eyelash implants to achieve these kind of lashes?

I know so little of eyelash implants until today when I was googling my way to this cosmetic trend.  Why would people be choosing this procedure over other eyelash enhancement processes like putting on falsies, applying a preferred eyelash growth serum brand (i.e Rimmel, Li Lash, Latisse, Rapid Lash, SmartLash or RevitaLash), or simply using a mascara to make the eyelashes look thicker and longer?  I found out that this procedure is more popular in Asian countries like Japan and Korea because of the fact that Asian eyelashes are genetically shorter and thinner.  Americans are slowly (but surely) keeping up with the trend as the desire to have longer and lushful eyelashes (and keep them as permanent as possible) increases.

What are eyelash implants?

Eyelash implants are a form of cosmetic surgery (yep, you read it right:SURGERY –going under the knife).  Specifically referred to as a transplant surgery, it is a bit risky because it’s done on a very sensitive part or area of your body –the eyes.  This an out-patient procedure which is done under local anaesthesia.  A good thing because that means you won’t feel any pain while the doctor does the procedure.

How are eyelash implants done?

Eyelash implants are done by transferring 40 to 50 active hair follicles from your scalp to your eyelid.  Each strand of hair is plucked individually, then cut off  of any excess dermis, epidermis and fat.  Each is then implanted to the eyelid carefully.  Each hair follicle is embedded to the eyelid in the same direction as your natural lashes or maybe between an angle of 30 and 40 degrees.  There’s approximately 95% probablity of follicles survival after the surgery and it usually lasts within one to 3 hours depending.  You maybe allowed to go home after 30 minutes of eyelash implants procedure or according to the doctor’s advice.

Results of eyelash implants vary but has an average of 3 to 6 months just like your average hair growth.  There’s a tendency for them to be longer and and thicker than your natural lashes so there maybe a need to trim them down.

How much do eyelash implants cost?

For the first time, I considered the eyelash implants “cost” last because I was taken aback by the word “surgery” (one squeamish lady over here).  The cost varies from doctor to doctor but according to one site, it commonly costs around $6000, that’s $3000 per eye.  Hmmm, a rather expensive way of possesing celebrity-like lashes.

Now, let’s consider the price of Li Lash Eyelash Conditioner here on ebay or amazon, Rimmel lash Accelerator on ebay or amazon, RevitaLash on ebay or amazon.  The price ranges from $50 to 140, right?  Also, I’ve read that eyelash extensions may cost around $120, not to mention the additional cost for maintenance and the likes. I think, I might just go with eyelash growth mascara or just the regular mascara.  I’m not so brave about undergoing a surgery much less undergoing one on my eyes.  Although I really want those long and thick lashes, I still think I might resort to the cheaper way of achieving them unless all my eyelashes fall out that is.  Maybe then, I’ll consider eyelash implants.  How about you?  Would you rather have eyelash implants than use any eyelash growth enhancers?

Is There a Thing Called an Eyelash Growth Mascara?

There are eyelash growth serums that are formulated just for growing eyelashes (I should know, I’ve written so much about them) but is there even a thing called eyelash growth mascara?  Is there actually an eye cosmetic that serves two purposes: a mascara and an eyelash enhancer?  Accroding to my research, yes so I’ve become one happier mascara user here.

People (when I say “people”, I mean most celebrities) say that as we grow older, we become more confident.  It’s quite true for common people as well because it’s happening to me.  And it’s also true that as we age, we realize there are things like hair loss (eyelashes loss for that matter) and wrinkles that we can’t avoid.  I can live with having a few wrinkles here and there but I’m not really sure about getting bald or getting as little eyelashes as possible.  And since I’m such a mascara lover (I can’t leave the house without putting one on my eyelashes), I’d be more comfortable with an eyelash growth mascara than any other eye product available in the market today.

What’s the difference between an eyelash growth mascara and just a regular mascara?

Obviously, eyelash growth mascara will help you grow your lashes while making them look thicker and darker while the regular mascara only defines those lashes and make them appear longer and thicker.  It’s fused with ingredients for eyelash enhancement according to the companies that manufacture this kind of product.  Elements like Grow-Lash Complex (which isn’t specifically noted just that grow-lash word) is said to help or complement the growth of your lashes.

What are the popular eyelash growth mascara brands?

Personally, I’ve always been in love with my Maybelline Volum Express Waterproof Mascara but given the fact that there are eyelash growth mascaras out there, I might need to change it.  A few brands I’ve encountered while researching for an eyelash growth mascara are Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara, Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara and Cargo Eyelash Growth Enhancing Mascara.  Rimmel is modeled by Zooey Deschanel, my favorite actress (so maybe I’ll get a bit bias with this product but wait, Zooey has always had those thick and long lashes, hmmm), Revlon goes in two types: regular and waterproof and is modeled by Jessica Biel (not that products with celeb models really matter or don’t they?) and Cargo boasts of its array of natural ingredients and polypeptides for eyelash growth (the alga Laminaria, anyone?).  I have yet to do more research on these products to see which would actually give me the results I want.  I mean, it’s going to be a few dollars less than any eyelash growth serums like Li Lash, RevitaLash or Latisse (Note: Price of LiLash on ebay or amazon, Price of RevitaLash on ebay or amazon).  See?  Do you get what I’m saying?  A good eyelash growth serum costs around $80 to $140  plus I still need to have my favorite mascara to put on which costs around $7.5.  But if I settle on an eyelash growth mascara, the most I’d get to spend is around $38 (unless there is a more expensive one I haven’t known of yet which, in any case, I won’t settle for because the point here is how I can SAVE and still get great results for my eyelashes).  Moreover, an eyelash growth mascara is supposedly easier to apply because you've been applying mascara for several years now, haven't you?

Basically if my research would give the information I need from an eyelash growth mascara, I’d be more than willing to let go of my current mascara and switch to the best particular brand.  How about you?  Don’t you think using an eyelash growth mascara is more convenient and productive than using just the plain old mascara?

RevitaLash vs Latisse: Which Eyelash Enhancer Will Work For You?

Hi, Reader! Welcome to another article about eyelash enhancers, this time about “RevitaLash vs Latisse: Which of these two popular eyelash growth products will work best for you?”.   I’m a self-declared expert on eyelash growth serums now because I’ve been doing some research about it for almost a month and when you do research for this long, you usually think that you know about the product so much and has an excuse to call yourself an “expert”.

Kidding aside though, I was reading my favorite magazine (yes, I DO still read magazines) this morning, Glamour, when I came across an ad page about Latisse with Claire Danes and Brooke Shields as models with their before and after eyelashes picture.  I was not really surprised knowing how popular this particular brand of eyelash enhancer has become and that most doctors trust it because it has FDA approval.  And while we’re in the topic of eyelash growth products’ research, I’ve also came across an equally popular brand called RevitaLash.  If you happen to be in a dilemma over RevitaLash vs Latisse, let me help you come up with a decision.

RevitaLash vs Latisse:  Cost

Here I am dealing with Revitalash vs Latisse ‘s cost.  I’ve made it a practice to tackle this part of the comparison first because as I’ve said, we all should know how much we should expect to spend in exchange of really long, thick and beautiful lashes.  If you take a look at RevitaLash on ebay or amazon, it costs around $80 to $140 depending on the seller.  Latisse, on the other hand, costs approximately $130.  It’s not available on ebay and amazon because it requires a prescription.

RevitaLash vs Latisse: Formulation

Here’s the tricky part on this RevitaLash vs Latisse battle because we can’t all be experts (not even a self-declared) on what kind of formulation really works and what does not.  But as a summary RevitaLash, a product from Athena Cosmetics, Inc., was formulated by Michael Brinkenhoff, MD for his wife who was recovering from metastatics breast canser treatments (I’m quoting this from the official RevitaLash site).  There are limited write ups about the specific formulation of the product but one key ingredient is called latanoprost which one blogger called “lash-plumbing” drug.  This one aids in the growth of the lashes.  There are other elements like water, sodium chloride, citric acid, panthenol and more.  You may need to look into the RevitaLash package to get the specifics.

Latisse, on one hand, is a prescription drug for hypotrichosis (the abnormality of having little eyelashes).  The manufacturers of Latisse is the same company that makes BOTOX (irrelevant information that I needed to include here) called Allergan.  The key ingredient of this product is bimatoprost which is a prostaglandin analog (means not really a prostaglandin) that helps control glaucoma progression and also at a prescribed amount can lengthen the eyelashes.   Again, Latisse is FDA-approved.

RevitaLash vs Latisse:  Effectiveness and Side-Effects

Here’s another tricky part in the continuing RevitaLash vs Latisse competition in this article.  RevitaLash is said to work within 3 to 10 weeks while Latisse is claimed to be effective within 4 to 16 weeks.  Both should be applied once  a day regularly on the upper eyelid, not on the lashes themselves.  Both are also not recommended for pregnant women and those undergoing eye-ailment treatments unless approved by the doctor.  Some RevitaLash side effects that have been reported were irritation and redness around the eye area, brittleness, drying and breakage of the lashes due to sodium chloride.  Latisse’s side effects also are irritation and redness plus darkening around the same area, eyelashes fall out and discoloration.  There are also users who added that Latisse took as long as 4 months = 16 weeks for it give the expected results on their lashes not 4 weeks.

RevitaLash vs Latisse: Verdict

RevitaLash and Latisse have almost the same price so there is no competition on this factor.  I’m a bit confused about latanoprost (I think I need more research on this one).  For this vagueness, I’m putting on extra points on Latisse plus it’s FDA- approval also makes a BIG difference.  I’m giving extra points on RevitaLash for majorly making its users happy by delivering the results within its claimed effectiveness period and also because a part of its cost is actually donated to breast cancer research.  Which product wins the RevitaLash vs Latisse contest?  It’s a draw.

If you want a professional opinion, you shoud visit your doctor and ask for advice on which product to use.  If you’re like me, you should go and do more researches and then still ask yourself whether you’re ready to use an eyelash growth serum for the possibility of possessing picture perfect lashes.  Better yet, you can research and write your own RevitaLash vs Latisse article so you can declare yourself an “expert” too.
